Education Is the Foundation of a Better Life
At Bridge Haven, every child goes to school.
That may sound like something simple. But for our children, the opportunity to go to school has not always been guaranteed.
Education is one of the first and most important opportunities we can give a child. I believe it is the foundation for a better life—for a child, for a family, and ultimately for an entire community.
Before I met Patty Smith and began working together through SPIRIT-Africa, keeping our children in school was a constant struggle.
There were sleepless nights I worried about how the school fees would be paid. And the children knew that there were times when they might not be able to return to school simply because there wasn’t enough money.
Imagine being a child with a dream of becoming a doctor, a teacher, a lawyer, a leader, or a professional—and wondering whether you will even be able to go back to school tomorrow.
That is why education means so much to these children.
For the past two years, SPIRIT-Africa has worked tirelessly to find the support needed to keep our children learning. Through the generosity of people who sponsor a child, and those who specifically help with school fees, we have been able to keep our children in school.
And for that, we are deeply grateful.
Today, seeing 42 children attending school consistently is one of our greatest blessings. We see more than children sitting in classrooms. We see dreams being protected. We see possibilities opening. We see young lives moving toward a future they once could only imagine.
But the need does not stop.
Keeping all 42 children in school requires approximately $4,000 every three months. We continue to do everything we can to make sure that lack of school fees never becomes the reason a child has to give up on their education.
So today, we are asking you to look at these children not simply as someone who needs a donation, but as someone who has an opportunity to change a life.
When you help a child stay in school, you are helping protect a dream.
You are helping a child believe that their future can be different.
You are giving them the chance to become the doctor, teacher, lawyer, leader, or professional they dream of becoming.
This is what SPIRIT-Africa stands for:
Seeing everyone achieve, thrive, and succeed.
We cannot do this alone.
Together, we can keep children in school. We can protect their dreams. And we can help create a future where every child has the opportunity to become who they were meant to be.
Education changes lives.
Together, we can make a difference in Africa.
